Practice Schedule
What you get! - 48 Practices (give or take, depending on weather), 3 regional races for Devos, and 4 regional races (and a chance to qualify for the state race) for high school racers.
Practices are held every Monday and Thursday, from 6:00pm-8:00PM - Locations and times are subject to change. There are over 7,800 NICA students trying to practice on our local trails every week! Because of that we have to be flexible as to where and when we ride. Most of our practices will be at the corner canyon riding area, though we practice in Eagle Mtn, Yellow Fork, Solitude, and several other venues. This information will be loaded into TeamSnap. Once you are registered with the team, you will receive an invite to TeamSnap and can see all of the details. TeamSnap gives you the option to RSVP for practices. We ask that you do this so that we know how to allocate our coaching resources. Team practice times may change slightly throughout the year to accomidate for daylight.
Practices focus on skill development, not fitness. Riders are broken up into groups, based on their skills and abilities. Because all riders are not the same, there will still be a variation of skill and ability within these groups. Above all, practices must be safe. This means that the group must stay together while we ride the trails. All that being said, your rider may be faster than the slowest rider in the group they are riding in. This does not mean that they are ready to move to the next group, and it does not mean that the rider is suffering from a lack of fitness in the group they are in. It is expected that our riders are training on their own during the week and over the weekend. Rides that focus on speed, just like the races, are individual. Practices are for developing the skills and fine tuning the abilities of the rider. These skills, married with the fitness training that the rider does on their own, will increase the speed of the rider overall.
It is your responsibility to get your student to practice, and to pick them up. We all have life hit us from time to time. If you cannot get your rider to practice, reach out through TeamSnap and we can usually find a way to get them there and home again. If you are driving your rider to practice and mountain biking has any appeal to you, you should come ride with us! If you are interested in riding with the team, please click the link below to see what is involved. We would love to have you ride with us... Seriously... Click the link...
Practices require 1 coach to 6 riders, or 2 coaches for 8+ riders.

Race Schedule
We race in Region 3. Races are an all day event. It is imeritive that you have your rider to the track to preride the course. All courses are marked at least one week prior to races. We will typically always have someone from the coaching staff at the race course on the weekend prior to the race. Many families travel to the far away races the day before and have their rider pre-ride the course the day before. However you do it, please make sure you get your rider on the course. The link to the race schedule is below.
